Assignment 1: Using RSS Feeds

How do you think you could use RSS feeds at your library? 

  • Keep up on latest trends in profession, including new technology applications in libraries.
  • Monitor journal tables of contents for articles of interest.
  • Read news from other libraries to get ideas for activities.
  • Conduct literature searches and then provide RSS feeds as new articles are published.


How do you think patrons could use RSS feeds?

  • Monitor journal tables of contents for articles of interest.
  • Set up PubMed search results RSS feeds to keep abreast of new literature being published in their field.
  • Set up ClinicalTrials.gov RSS feed to keep abreast of new research being conducted on specific topics.
  • Set up RSS feed for library news to find out what activities, databases, etc. are new at library.
